Thanks! We spend so much of our time working alone that it’s a real treat when we can get together.

I'd love to get the recipe for the Sluggo. I'm assuming it's served on the (three) rocks!

Ha! It should've been served on three rocks!

As I recall, it was a version of a Manhattan, made with bourbon, sweet vermouth, Cynar, some flakes of honeycomb, and probably something else. I should've taken a photo of the drinks menu!

I second what Doug Greer said about envy. I do wish I could have been there, just to see the original pages and hear all the stories about other artists. Not only do you have a Wayno at that table, you have Nancy scholars, pinhead creators, and a horror movie hostess! My people.

Thanks, Michael. It was certainly a fun table to be stated at!

If you're able to make it to Columbus Ohio, The Nancy Show will be on display until November 3.

Thanks for the great question, Myles.

Olivia Jaimes wasn't present, unless she was incognito and blended into the audience. She did provide a recorded narrated slideshow, "How to Write Nancy." I don 't know if that was a nod to or a jab at Mark Newgarden and Paul Karasik. The slideshow included examples of comics, text, and diagrams explaining her thoughts on how gags work in a strip. I spoke with someone who recognized the voice in the presentation as someone other than Olivia Jaimes, but I can't confirm that personally.

Photography and video recording were forbidden during the presentation and the Museum's curators said they had sworn to delete it after it was shown.

The only post-Bushmiller Nancy cartoonist in attendance was Gary Hallgren. Gary was a candidate to take over in 1994, and he created six weeks of sample strips. My understanding is that after creating the samples, he decided that writing and drawing a gag a day wasn't his cup of tea.

Since 2015, Gary has provided the art for Hagar the Horrible. He also does paintings, some of which are interpretations of Nancy and Sluggo.
