Solidly Sustainable
I hope you’re all staying hydrated as we navigate the oppressive heat—and the oppressive stupidity—affecting large portions of the country. If you’re indoors keeping cool, you might want to grab some chuckles from the cartoons and commentary in this week’s blog post.
Here in the Little Shop of Humor, I’ve been working on cartoons for mid-September and imagining cool autumn weather, assuming that’s still a possibility. The latest batch of gags involved race car drivers, a mythical creature, doctors, package deliveries, and a surrealist icon.
Looking Ahead & Looking Back
This pescatory character will also grace the funny pages in a couple of months.
Turning our Cartoon-O-Scope back to 1991, we present an item that appeared in Hyena, a short-lived humor anthology from the short-lived Tundra Publishing Company. The original art was a small acrylic painting collaged with a tiny photocopy of a Nancy comic strip.
Spectacularly Surreal Secret Symbol Shirt
The Bizarro Summer Collection in the Comics Kingdom shop includes this tee bearing a surreal landscape with multiple Secret Symbols and Magritte’s “Son of Man” self-portrait. The shop also has ladies’ V-neck tees available.
Alternate Configurations Department
The swollen, inflamed hand in Monday’s comic required a different approach for the black-and-white version. I think this one looks more painful than the color image.
Another Wayno
I don’t remember where I grabbed this image, and haven’t been able to find it again, but I can’t argue against honest joinery and thoughtful design.
That’s the newsletter for this week.
All the best from your humble ink-monkey,
Wayno

I guess no one wanted to buy the Wayno Dinning Set, because it was too loud. ;)
Too bad you can't remember; I could really use a new "dinning" set for when I have my next din.
