Happy Saturday from bone-chilling Hollywood Gardens, PA.
The new blog entry is now available for your weekend amusement.
Between sessions of my snow-shoveling exercise program, I finished a batch of gags. This group had me drawing a prehistoric creature, a 1960s sitcom character, vampires (again?), a rock music icon, and a couple of people drinking coffee.
Looking Ahead & Looking Back
This apprehensive raptor will appear in an upcoming panel.
Our throwback image is from the very recent past: the original drawing for the November 28, 2024 Bizarro panel. I scanned the art or my archives a few days ago before sending it to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California. It will join the Musuem’s collection of comic art that references Peanuts in some way. Two of my other Bizarro drawings are already in their archive, along with quite a few from Dan Piraro.
Sketchbook Stuff
I drew these pages during a visit to New York with my friends Jim and Mark (also known as Mook) on January 6, 1990. We made the trip to see the mysterious San Francisco band The Residents.
Note that a pipe image popped up way back then.
My copy of the New York Times from the following Monday mistakenly printed a sports column under the headline for the concert review.
Thirty-five years later, thanks to technology, I found the actual column.
This Week in Bizarro History
A Laff from the Past
I still giggle at the idea of a clown’s fire extinguisher.
Best of 2024?
It’s time for cartoonists to submit their work for consideration for this year’s Reuben Awards. I have no expectations of winning a second award, but I will submit for it anyway.
I have to select eight gags from 2024 for my awards package by the end of the month. If you have any particular favorites from last year, feel free to add your nominations in the comments section.
Thanks for reading my weekly ramblings and looking at my daily drawings.
Keep those pipe pics, questions, comments, and t-shirt modeling photos coming in!
Warm wishes from your chilly cartoonist,
Wayno
Love the sketchbook stuff!🙂
As you know, I have to go with the “Muchas Garcias”, long live Jerry
